I had to laugh. Yesterday I was talking with two other moms while our kids were playing after school. We do this often so they can get their wiggles out before we go home to get dinner ready. We talk about recipes, how to sneak kale into smoothies or spinach into the kids’ meals, and other parenting issues.

So yesterday we got on the topic of our work lives before we had kids. I said I worked in Human Resources which seemed to open the door to a very entertaining conversation.

The one mom, who I have had the majority of conversations with about organic food and kale, starts talking about these crazy conferences she went to when she worked in sales. How one of her co-worker’s climbed out his fire escape in his suit so that he could sneak by his boss and pretend he had already been in the conference (rather than be caught for oversleeping from the party the night before).

The other mom starts talking about her wild teen years and this hysterically inappropriate office party she went to with her husband. I contributed some funny HR stories from my past and I went home cracking up thinking, “What were we doing talking about Kale when we could’ve talking about that?”

I love the moments when you have these random, unexpected conversations. Don’t you?
